Opportunity Information:

The mission of the Vilcek Foundation is to raise public awareness of the outstanding contributions of foreign-born scientists and artists living and working in the United States.

To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for its 2022 Creative Promise Prizes. Established in 2009, the program seeks to encourage and support emerging to mid-career immigrant artists and scientists who have demonstrated exceptional achievements early in their career. In 2022, Creative Promise Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Biomedical Science — Three unrestricted cash prizes of $50,000 each will be awarded to young foreign-born biomedical scientists who demonstrate outstanding early achievement in basic, applied, and/or translational biomedical science. Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) and should hold a full-time position at an academic institution or other organization, including positions of assistant or associate professor, or equivalent independent position.

Dance — Three unrestricted cash prizes of $50,000 each will be awarded in support of professional artistic director, choreographer or performers who demonstrate outstanding early achievement in dance.

To be eligible, applicants must have been born outside the United States; be no older than age 38 as of December 31, 2021 (born on or after January 1, 1983); a naturalized citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) of the United States; and hold an H1B or O-1 visa and have been living and working in the United States for at least five years, or have been granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) relief.
