Foundation Fighting Blindness Career Development Program
The Foundation Fighting Blindness was established in 1971 by a passionate group of individuals driven to find treatments and cures for blinding retinal diseases that were affecting themselves or loved ones. Today, the foundation seeks to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments, and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, Usher syndrome, and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.
The foundation invites applications for its Career Development Program, which seeks to help advance junior clinical research scientists in their endeavors to cure retinal degenerative disease by: 1) facilitating advances in laboratory and clinical research; 2) elucidating the mechanism for the cause and pathogenesis of retinal degenerative diseases; and 3) developing innovative strategies to prevent, treat, and cure these diseases.
This program supports up to five junior-level faculty for five years at $75,000 per year. Individuals from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and gender groups as well as individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Eligible applicants include clinician-scientists possessing an MD, DO, OD, or recognized equivalent foreign degree and who are in their first, second, or third year of a junior faculty appointment.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Foundation Fighting Blindness website.
