Concept Papers for Early-Career Pediatric Research

The Thrasher Research Fund is accepting concept papers for its Early Career Awards program. Through the program, grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded in support of medical research in child health conducted by new researchers (with oversight from a mentor). In this funding cycle, the fund anticipates awarding grants to fifteen researchers with the potential to eventually become independent principal investigators. A variety of research topics are eligible, as the fund does not focus on a particular disease but instead on children’s health broadly defined; however, the fund is particularly interested in applicants that show great potential to impact the field of children's health through medical research.

To be eligible, applicants must be a physician in a residency/fellowship training program, a physician who has completed such a program no more than a year before the date of submission of the concept paper, or a postdoctoral researcher who has received his/her doctoral-level degree no more than three years prior to the date of submission of the concept paper. The program is open to applicants from institutions both inside and outside the United States.

Concept papers are due March 17, 2020. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by May 8, 2020.
