Opportunity Information:

Founded in 1998, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation works to promote discoveries that advance the understanding of sleep for healthier lives

To advance this mission, the foundation invites applications for its Bridge to Success Award for Early Career Investigators. The program is designed to provide ‘bridge’ funding to promising early-career sleep and circadian scientists who have applied for a career development award (e.g., a K-award grant) from the National Institutes of Health, a CDA from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, or an equivalent career development grant from another federal or non-federal funding agency but whose funding request was not within the agency’s funding range.

The aim of the program is to support sleep researchers during the time needed for revision and resubmission of a promising application in response to reviewer critiques. Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded.

Individual applicants must identify a mentor in in sleep and circadian research with the skills, knowledge, and resources to provide effective mentorship.

Eligible applicants include sleep scientists (MD, DO, DDS, DMD, DNP, DNSc, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) who have applied for a multiyear career development award from the NIH, VA, or other awarding body in the field of sleep or circadian science within the past two years that was scored in the peer-review process but fell below (or is likely to fall below) the funding agency’s pay line.

See the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
