Applications for Religious and Theological Sabbatical Research

Sponsors:
Louisville Institute
Amount:
$40,000
External Deadline:
11/01/20
Opportunity Information:

The Louisville Institute invites applications for its Sabbatical Grant for Researchers program. Through the program, grants of up to $40,000 will be awarded in support of major research and writing projects that can advance religious and theological scholarship in ways that also address practical issues of Christian faith and life, pastoral leadership, and/or religious institutions.

In addition, grantees will be invited and encouraged — though not required — to attend the institute's annual winter seminar. This three-day seminar, typically held during January (2022 dates TBD) on the campus of Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, convenes grant recipients from four different institute programs to share their project plans and receive constructive feedback.

To be eligible, applicants must have earned the terminal degree in their chosen vocation, typically a Master of Divinity degree for pastors and the PhD or ThD for academics. Applicants may be based in the United States or Canada. Preference will be given to applicants who are fully employed in accredited academic institutions and eligible for a full academic year leave from teaching and administrative duties.

For complete program guidelines, application instructions, and information about previous grantees, see the Louisville Institute website.
