Amount:
$50,000
External Deadline:

Opportunity Information:

The Lilly Endowment invites applications for its National Clergy Renewal Program. Developed to give pastors respite from the persistent obligations of parish life and an opportunity for rejuvenation and growth, the program supports all activities that contribute to the larger goal of reflection and renewal, including research, religious site visits, time for rest and prayer, and designated time for reading and writing. Grants may also include costs associated with family members accompanying clergy, as well as costs to fulfill pastoral duties for the duration of the pastor's respite. Congregations and pastors are encouraged to collaborate on a design unique for their parish. Through the program, as many as a hundred and twenty-five congregations will be awarded grants of up to $50,000.

Congregations led by an ordained pastor with a Master of Divinity degree or higher from an educational institution accredited by the Association of Theological Schools are eligible to apply. Ordained pastors in good standing without MDiv degrees are eligible provided they demonstrate a strong record of congregational service and commitment to ongoing education/professional development. Congregations in any state except Indiana may apply; congregations in Puerto Rico may also apply.

For detailed program guidelines and application instructions, see the Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Programs website.
