Applications for Multiple Sclerosis Research
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society awards grants to investigator-initiated applications with relevance to multiple sclerosis and the foundation’s research priorities, which include defining the contribution of genetics, various risk factors, and their modifiers to the development of MS and its progression, as well as strategies to prevent, treat, and cure all forms of MS; understanding MS pathology and pathophysiology; understanding and treating MS progression; identifying strategies for neuroprotection and nervous system repair; and elucidating the cause of MS symptoms, the impact of comorbidities, and the identification of rehabilitation, wellness behaviors, and lifestyle approaches that impact disease course, symptoms, and overall health.
Research grants of one to five years are supported by the program, including fundamental and applied studies, as well as those that are non-clinical or clinical in nature, including projects in patient management, care, and rehabilitation.
To be eligible for a grant, the principal investigator must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent at the time of submission. PIs need not need be a citizen of the United States.
Pre-applications are due February 5. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a formal application by February 12.
