Applications for investigator-initiated research grants
The National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM) Foundation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming health care through evidence and collaboration.
The foundation invites applications for the 2024-25 funding cycle of the investigator-initiated research grant program, which supports innovative investigator-initiated research with a high potential to inform improvements to the U.S. healthcare system. Projects must advance the existing knowledge base in healthcare financing, delivery, management and/or policy. Grants will be awarded in support of investigator-initiated health services research to advance the knowledge base in healthcare financing, delivery, management, and/or policy. Studies must have a strong potential to yield insights that can be used to have a positive impact on the U.S. healthcare system by improving efficiency, quality, access to care, or equity. Studies involving direct patient care or clinical bench-science research are irrelevant to this solicitation.
NIHCM is making a total of $1 million available for the combined 2024-25 funding cycles for its research and journalism grant programs, and funding will be allocated across the two programs according to the merits of the proposals received.
Applicants are invited by individual researchers from all types of organizations and institutions, including nonprofit and for-profit entities. Multiple organizations may apply jointly, but one must be named the principal organization, and others will have a subcontract relationship with that organization.
Letters of inquiry are due June 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Upon review, full proposals will be invited from a small number of applicants in August 2024 and will be due in September 2024.
