Applications for Free Clinics Grant Program
The American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFP) is accepting applications for its Family Medicine Cares USA program.
Launched in 2011, the program provides monetary grants of up to $25,000 to help new free clinics purchase medical equipment and instruments for the diagnosis and treatment of primary care patients. The priority focus of the program is to support the opening of new free clinics. If funds are available, the program also provides grants of up to $10,000 to existing clinics to help them care for the uninsured in their communities.
To be eligible, applicants must be a new clinic nearing completion of the Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) clinic development process and have an AAFP member in a leadership role. Primary consideration will be given to clinics with an AAFP member serving as medical director and those that have family medicine residents and/or medical students involved as volunteers.
See the AAFP website for complete program guidelines, a fact sheet, and application instructions.
