Applications for the Cottrell Scholar Award
The Research Corporation for Science Advancement seeks to advance early-stage, high-potential, basic scientific research.
To that end, the organization invites applications for its Cottrell Scholar Award program, which champions the very best early-career teacher-scholars in chemistry, physics, and astronomy by providing significant discretionary awards for research. Nurturing an interdisciplinary community of outstanding scientific/educational/academic leaders, the CS program fosters synergy among faculty at major U.S. and Canadian research universities and primarily undergraduate institutions. A grant of $100,000 over three years will be awarded to a tenure-track scholar-educator who holds a primary or courtesy appointment in a chemistry, physics, or astronomy department that offers bachelor’s and/or graduate degrees in the applicant’s discipline.
For the 2022 proposal cycle, eligibility is limited to faculty members who started their first tenure-track appointment anytime in the calendar year 2019. Accommodations are made for faculty who have taken maternity or paternity leave or experienced medical conditions that prompted a tenure clock extension.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Research Corporation for Science Advancement website.
