Opportunity Kick-off: NIH / DOE Bridge2AI

June 21, 2021

The Bridge2AI Program seeks to bridge the biomedical and behavioral research communities with the rapidly growing community of experts developing Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning models by producing flagship datasets and critically integrate ethical considerations in preparing data for computation. The program will use biomedical and behavioral research grand challenges to drive the development of ethics, standards, tools, data sets, and skills and workforce development strategies for linking scientific workflows, protocols, and other information about the data collection process into computable knowledge.

NIH is recommending interdisciplinary and cross-institutional efforts with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion. Interdisciplinary collaborations will merge biomedical and behavioral research and AI/ML data science communities with scheduled team building activities for potential applicants. The DOE Laboratory Announcement seeks innovative research to explore the development and use of privacy-preserving artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) analysis for key, grand challenge datasets such as those that are the focus of the NIH Bridge2AI program.
