The Arizona Biomedical Research Centre announced the following opportunities:

Investigator Grant & New Investigator Award

Up to three million dollars ($3,000,000.00) per year are available for Investigator Grant (IG) and New Investigator Award (NIA) applications. The maximum award for IG Applications is two hundred fifty-thousand ($250,000.00) annually with a maximum project duration of three (3) years from the award date. The maximum award for NIA Applications is seventy-five thousand ($75,000.00) annually with a maximum project duration of three (3) years from the award date.

Deadline: Letters of Intent are due February 14, 2022

Research to Improve the Health of Arizonans Marijuana Research

The goal of this funding opportunity is to fund research regarding the correlation between marijuana use and mental illness, including psychosis and violent behavior to ensure and improve the health and wellness of Arizonans.
3.1.1 While ABRC’s strong emphasis is on funding basic and translational research projects, ABRC continues to seek innovative projects that leverage Arizona’s resources and strengthen collaboration.
3.1.2 The Marijuana Research Grant is established by law passed though Senate Bill 1847 in 2021 to seek answers regarding the potential causal effects of marijuana on Arizonans specifically related to mental illness and violent behavior.
3.1.3 A strong emphasis will be focused on Applications that are multidisciplinary in nature and employ collaborative approaches. Collaboration among investigators could include: within an institution, across institutions, or across disciplines
