FY24 Regents’ Research Grants Opportunity Kick-off

February 08, 2024

Research Development Opportunity Kick-off events are introductions to specific funding opportunities that provide an overview of requirements, advice and lessons learned from experienced faculty, and a chance to network with other ASU faculty.

Topic: FY24 Regents’ Research Grants

The Regents’ Grants program, offered by the Arizona Board of Regents, funds research across Arizona’s multiple public universities designed to uncover new solutions to persistent challenges impacting Arizona and its residents.

Detention Staffing Opportunity

County Supervisors Association

Arizona Sheriffs’ Association

Detention services are an essential part of the criminal justice system and must operate effectively without fail. Proper staffing levels of detention facilities as well as minimizing staff load are essential to protecting the safety of detention personnel and inmates. Finding solutions that attract, motivate, and incentivize qualified people to pursue careers in county detention is vital to public safety in Arizona. This opportunity builds on the completed 2023 Regents’ Community Grants by providing support for the implementation phase of their project findings by: (a) answering questions relating to research methodology and/or (b) assembling from the Regents’ Community Grant final report a sub-report targeting the working groups’ specific interest; (c) General researcher support of workgroup thematic breakout meetings

Procurement Opportunity

County Supervisors Association

Arizona League of Cities and Towns

Local government organizations face challenges in finding the right balance between the internal cost of the procurement function and the external return on that investment in terms of cost and risk mitigation. An exploration of procurement alternatives, either for individual organizations or under a shared model, could provide many local governments in Arizona access to a more effective approach to managing purchasing without the prohibitive costs. Additionally, understanding how improved procurement methods can mitigate risk from contract management and litigation will further reduce local government costs.

Deadline for submissions is February 23, 2024. Proposal responses are limited to 4-5 pages and must include a budget spreadsheet. Multi-university proposals are encouraged but not required.

Presenters:

  • Lara Ferry, Assoc. Vice President for Research, Arizona State University
