FY24 NSF Global Centers (Capture Kick-off)

Research Development Capture Kick-off events are pre-RFP strategy sessions for funding opportunities to best position ASU and enhance application competitiveness. Sponsored by KE Research Development.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Global Centers competition proposes to drive research partnerships and community-driven design for the planet. This solicitation funds international, interdisciplinary collaborative research centers that will apply best practices of broadening participation and community engagement to develop use-inspired research on climate change and clean energy. We invite you to participate in a pre-RFP strategy discussion on this opportunity for funding.

Anticipated priority goals for the 2024 Global Centers competition are, but are not limited to, Leveraging Biodiversity Across the Tree of Life to Power the Bioeconomy, and Biofoundries (also called the Design-Build-Test-Learn process). Examples of research areas within this framework include data for the bioeconomy, biocomputing, microbial biodiversity, plant genomics, precision agriculture, green economy, economic and policy perspectives, ethical implications of bioeconomy technologies, metabolomics, bioengineering, synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, rapid prototyping of biological designs, and biorefineries.

For FY24, there will be a single track: Global Center Implementation ($5M for between 4-5 years)

The RFP is anticipated to drop Feb/Mar with a deadline for proposals in May 2024.
