External Event: 2021 Summit: Research Impact & Public Engagement at the Intersection of the Future Workforce, Event Dates: 05/10/2021-05/13/2021

Advancing Research Impact in Society (ARIS) and Research Impact Canada (RIC) are working in collaboration to host the 2021 Conference on Research Impact & Public Engagement at the Intersection of the Future Workforce. This Summit represents the first time ARIS and RIC have brought our two communities together to learn from our collective expertise and network for future collaboration.

Plenary sessions, speakers, and panels will focus on research impact as drivers of economic and workforce development -- including precollegiate and higher education, business and industry, and government partnerships. Participants will discuss the community to career pathways in the STEM technical workforce, improving workforce diversity, government efforts to enhance workforce development, and the role of public engagement and research impact.

The meeting will be focused on four tracks: 

1. Public engagement in areas of emerging technologies

2. Impact of Programs and Research on Workforce Readiness

3. Engaging diverse and inclusive communities in STEM Careers

4. Futurist Projections and the changing workforce
