March 02, 2021

Competitive Intelligence Working Group: Competitive Intelligence for Faculty

Have you ever wondered how to get faculty to think like a CI professional? Have you ever wanted to help your faculty incorporate CI best practices into preparing for their proposal submissions? If so, this workshop is for you!

In this session Keith Aspinall and Jamie Burns, Senior Research Analysts at Arizona State University will showcase how they work with faculty to ensure strategic proposal submissions. Keith and Jamie will detail how to explain the value of CI to faculty and how to train faculty to incorporate CI best practices into their work. They will walk through a presentation provided annually at ASU and provide background about the tenets that can be useful to all CI professionals working in an academic environment.
The presentation will kick off the conversation about how to get faculty to think more strategically, so come prepared with your own examples and experiences.

The Competitive Intelligence Working Group (CIWG) is a network of academic professionals who are engaged in competitive intelligence (CI) and who are seeking to define how CI works and is perceived at their institution. CIWG connects colleagues from more than 50 universities to expand understanding of how research development professionals are working with CI, share best practices and useful resources, and discuss challenges and solutions.

Attendance is open to anyone currently performing competitive intelligence activities, or who is interested in learning more about this growing area in research development. Everyone is encouraged to share their experiences.
