Research Development Opportunity Kick-off events are introductions to specific funding opportunities that provide an overview of requirements, advice and lessons learned from experienced faculty, and a chance to network with other ASU faculty.

The ASU Library offers a rich diversity and depth of resources and services to ASU researchers and adapts its many offerings to meet ever evolving requirements and expectations of funders. An area where we are seeing increased emphasis by both funders and publishers of scholarly work is around the archiving and sharing of primary research data. With goals of making research more transparent and reproducible, funders are increasingly requiring that all primary research data are archived in open, publicly accessible data repositories at the completion of grants, and that proposals include a Data Management Plan where researchers outline how they will manage project data and, ultimately, meet those data-sharing requirements. The Library has made substantial investments to help ASU researchers meet these new requirements. In this presentation, we will discuss Library tools and resources designed to help ASU researchers develop Data Management Plans for their proposals, and the Library's open data repository to house primary research data. We will provide overviews of data-sharing expectations of the major funders of research, and the data repository landscape generally.
Over the past several years, the ASU Library has diversified their staff and technology to increase support of ASU researchers. ASU Library continues to serve as a researcher support group to meet the ongoing efforts of federal agencies to formalize methods for ethically archiving and sharing data, contributing to increased transparency and access to research and scholarship. The dynamic nature of publication and data policies among federal agencies requires that researchers quickly come up to speed on current requirements every time they submit a proposal. ASU Library can work with you and your research administrator to improve compliance with these requirements.
