2020 W.M. Keck Foundation Research Program
Kick-Off: 2020 W.M. Keck Foundation Research Program
Date: March 26, 2020
Time: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Location: Fulton Center 6150
Research Development Opportunity Kick-off events are introductions to specific funding opportunities that provide an overview of requirements, advice and lessons learned from experienced faculty, and a chance to network with other ASU faculty.
Topic:
The W. M. Keck Foundation supports pioneering discoveries in science, engineering and medical research and encourages high-risk/high-impact work by researchers. The Keck Foundation is laying the groundwork for new paradigms, technologies and discoveries that will save lives, provide innovative solutions, and add to our understanding of the world. Both Senior and Early Career investigators are encouraged to apply.
Presenters:
- Anne Jones, Ph.D., Associate Professor, School of Molecular Sciences
- Jenny Bickford, Senior Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations, ASU Foundation
- Hayley Bohall, Research Opportunity Manager, Knowledge Enterprise
Recent Keck Foundation Awardee: Dr. Anne Jones has been with ASU since 2007, cultivating a lab group that explores the interface of biology and inorganic chemistry using electrochemical methods to study the mechanisms of biological and bio-inspired redox catalysts relevant to energy production. The group focuses on defining the underlying mechanisms of proton-coupled electron transfer which allows nature to perform sophisticated and energetically challenging reduction reactions.
This information session will:
- Provide an understanding of the W.M. Keck Foundation’s basic science expectations.
- Explain the review criteria for advancing promising, high-risk/high-reward basic research proposals from ASU to the W.M. Keck Foundation.
- Review the Limited Submissions process for this unique application process.
- Provide an opportunity for Q & A following the presentation.
