Peralta's research focuses on mechanics of materials, including fatigue and fracture of metallic alloys, dynamic and shock loading of metallic and intermetallic materials, as well as high temperature plasticity and creep of metallic materials used in energy systems, and of actinide bearing oxides (UO2) used in nuclear fuel applications. Emphasis is placed on both experiments and modeling of anisotropy and grain boundary effects on mechanical behavior and failure.
