Opportunity Information:

Now in its twenty-third year history, the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans has built a community of six hundred an eighty-five immigrants and children of immigrants.

Every year, the program supports thirty New Americans — immigrants and children of immigrants—who are pursuing graduate school in the United States and have the talent and drive to make a significant contribution to U.S. society, culture, or their academic field.

Selection criteria is focused on accomplishments that show creativity, originality, and initiative in light of the challenges and opportunities that have been part of the applicant's immigration experience. Eligible applicants must be 30 or younger and planning on being enrolled in a full-time graduate program in the 2022-23 academic year. Paul & Daisy Soros Fellows from the 1998 class, the very first class, today are in mid-career and have pursued careers in medicine, science, law, policy, technology, business, journalism, government, nonprofits, the arts, an academia, or have built their career across several sectors.

The application is open to college seniors, students in the early stages of their graduate career, and those in the workforce who are seeking graduate training. The program is open to all types of professional and graduate degrees, including JD, MBA, MPP, MPA, PhD, MM, MArch, MD, and MS. Applicants can apply for a fellowship at the same time that they apply for graduate school or in the first two years of the program for which they are seeking funding.

Note: Applications are not reviewed on a rolling basis, so there is no advantage to submitting an application early. That said, the program advises applicants not to wait until the last minute and to give themselves time to review.

All eligiblity requirements apply to the applicant's status on October 28, 2021.
