Lawmakers Propose Dramatic Expansion to NSF

A bipartisan bill has been put to Congress to overhaul the National Science Foundation (NSF) with a substantially increased budget, a new technology directorate, and a new name: The National Science and Technology Foundation (NSTF). This new bill would allow for funding, " ...an assortment of university centers, testbeds, fellowships, and technology consortiums..." with a focus on key technological innovation in fields determined by the NSTF director and advisory board.
