January 08, 2025

The Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program provides funding to community-based organizations addressing critical environmental and health challenges. This program is designed to empower those working in underserved communities to conduct projects in the areas of assessment, planning, and development.

Selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), we are a group of funders, that is distributing $48 million in grants within EPA Region 9: California, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, Guam, the Northern Marina Islands, American Samoa, and 148 Tribal Nations.

This grant program is an unprecedented government investment in communities disproportionately impacted by climate and health-related challenges. It was established in 2022 through the Inflation Reduction Act.

The application process was designed to be accessible for organizations of all sizes with support available at no cost to guide applicants through proposals, reporting, and evaluation.
