The Smith Richardson Foundation aims to contribute to important public debates and address serious public policy challenges facing the United States, as well as help ensure the vitality of social, economic, and governmental institutions and assist with the development of effective policies that enable the U.S. to compete internationally and advance U.S. interests and values abroad.

The foundation invites applications for its annual Strategy and Policy Fellows grant competition, which will provide at least three research grants of $60,000 to young scholars and policy thinkers on American foreign policy, international relations, international security, military policy, and diplomatic and military history, and enable the recipients to write a book.

Applicants must have a PhD and be employed at an affiliate of a U.S. organization (e.g., university or think tank).

Only single-author book projects will be considered.

For complete program guidelines, application instructions, and a list of past fellows, see the Smith Richardson Foundation website.
